  can anyone enlighten me on army rank???
  
  i know the curve up and one arrow down is lance corporal, 2 arrow down is corporal? what about sergeant? and lieutenant? how come commando(elite ) are only 2nd sergeants?i tot they are the elite forces? and MO are majors? i tot MO is full lieutenant only?

  Wrong forum, but anyhow...
  
  There are the commissioned officers... lieutenant, captain, major etc
  
  and then there are the WOSEs (Warrant Officers and Specialists)... WOs, Master Sergeant, Staff Sergeant Sergeant
  
  and then there are the MEN... Corporal, Lance Corporal, PTE
  
  In any unit, commando or not, there would be a mix of the three.

  Sgt: 3 arrow down is 3rd Sgt
  3 down and 1 up is 2nd sgt
  3 down a 2 up is 1st sgt
  
  the more stripes you have your seniority increases so therefore, 1st is bigger than 3rd.
  
  lt: is 1 bar = 2nd lt
  2 bar = first lt
  
  Captain: 3bar
  
  Major: 1 singapore crab
  Ltc: 2 singapore
  C: 3 singapore
  
  Star: Donned to know la, now got 3 stars, 2 stars and 1star

  to add on, Commando is a vocation in Ns, yes it's an elite force, but to differentiate the members, they need to have ranks. so this is where the ranks come into place.
  
  Mo (medical officer) is the same thing.
  edit: There is be even a Lcp or Cpl Combat medic
