IPOD VS CREATIVE, which brand to buy from ?

Apple mainly made the breakthrough in design. Up to a certain point, in terms of function Creative was better, and specifications as well. Moreover, Creative shots themselves in the foot by being complacent. Not being innovative enough on product and a poor marketing at the same time ipod started being aggressive.
Creative never recovered from the market share they lost.
Morever, Creative began being priced out by other brands like iriver who aggressively pushing for the lower price market.
Apple was only original in design, they neither invented mp3 format nor developed the concept of portable mp3 players, it was just the design. But thanks to good marketing, it's all consumers will think about. -
I've use a range of products from Creative, including CPU hardware. I've used Zen Micro, Zen Neon and others. Gamepad, webcam, wireless keyboard. Yes, I'm a creative member. They changed entire mp3 for her, maybe because it wasn't zen micro. Back then, I thought maybe since it's produced locally, it's easier to replace. Yet to hear about that happen for ipod, maybe there is but I don't know about it. My friend was able to sell the mp3 2 years after intiail purchase with only surface scratches. Maybe coz it's not the type with hard disk.
I'm not saying anything bad about you, just relating my own experiences. I do have horrible luck with sony handphones though, hence I only buy Nokia or Samsung now. -
I don't really find a problem with Creative after sales service, but then again, I don't go often. It is quite far though in Jurong. Ipod is at Wheelock place? my g/f wants a very small mp3,
so got 2 choice, ipod shuffle or creative nano.
Creative would give you a lower price for similiar function and capability compared to ipod. LCD screen for ipod would be more visually appealing too. Menu design/software is also better, I think because the touchpad design is patented.
Ultimately, depends on what you are looking for. If you want design, it's just simply ipod. And I don't just mean initial design, there's a much wider range of accessories that you could get for an ipod. An ipod is more than an mp3 player, it's a fashion statement as well. Loads of fashion items out there are designed for ipods even if the item itself is not made by apple.
You want better value for money, go for creative.
Sony's a good buy too, sound quality has improved.
Iriver if you just want a simple mp3 player and if you don't mind a less outstanding design.
Samsung for a nice LCD.
But coming back to Creative and Apple, depends on what you want. Design? Ipod. -

maybe Creative should counter Apple by copy their IPod appearance.
but given dat Creative is proud n complacent, i dun think they will like to copy others. -
One thing though, design is subjective, but not everyone likes plain white mp3s or fruity colored ones. I like mine to have a more silvery look it.

i have bad experiences with creative products. (spoils easily etc..)
while my ipod nano has served me faithfully for about a year already.

They can't edge, not for now anyway. Still, design wise, they shouldn't just copy ipod. They should continue to set themselves apart as a brand. However, it would help to have something (especially design) that could give them the same kind of boost that the design of ipod gave apple.
Olympus once had an mp3 (maybe the first Olympus mp3) player that had very similar design to ipod. Plain white color scheme and all. It came across as trying too hard and wasn't exactly popular. -

Creative owns the ipod's sound reproduction
Ipod's controls a tad bit more intuitive
Creative after sales is quite good if you know how to handle them
Ipod's after sales is crappy esp when they want you to part with $400 for a REFURBISHED ipod

Just to add on to my last post to you, if you want design and the mp3 player is a fashion accessory to you, then ipod's your choice. Actually, a bit unrelated but the 'original' issue had me thinking.
Creative was the one that came out with the breakthrough 'sound blaster' for PC if not, we might have little better than PC speakers for all we know. Although sound blaster is for PC, I would be more inclined towards Creative for good sound reproduction. Just like how I expect good screens or good LCDs from Samsung. Just look at the screens for Samsung handphones, their good screen quality isn't limited to LCDs and TVs. -

actually sound quality between apple n creative abt the same.
apple is known for its sleek design.
creative is known for its user friendly.
if u dun like too much of hassle, get the creative.
samsung has better sound quality actually.

Definitely iPod. Had mine for 2 years and still loving it like the first day.
I didn't like the feel (too plasticky and cheap feeling) and the shape (too round or bulky) of the Creative players. -
i have had enough of creative's sub standard quality products.
i've put faith in them although i had bad experiences with the zen micro.
trust them with zen vision again,they failed on me again
to me there's no perfect hard disk mp3 player currently in the market -
i use ipod for like 2yrs liao still running well n look brand new........hmm ipod shuffle like veri throublesome cos got no display on which song r u on....try ipod nano instead??creative my cousin last time use...1 year spoilt liao...den my fren use 2 also spoilt.....
why wanna be special n use others seldom use???more ppl use cos its reliable mah.....u want rare type that seldom ppl use...den go buy those china brand lor........u want long lasting that doesnt give u problems or those uncommon 1 that may not last.
seriously if want to buy ipod...i rather get the 5th gen ipod video which im using for 2 yrs now.....ipod nano is just too exp for its class....on other hand by paying $150 more....not only u can watch vid on ipod,u also inc ur capacity by 26gb which can server as a external hard disk also.ipod vid is not veri big also...its quite slim n trendy...in fact small tends to crack easily. -
