even though our parents only pay a small amount, but it's still money and they've paid so we should at least have some rights and say in stuffs.....Originally posted by eagle:Sch fees? True, that teachers do not understand how students feel but yet students also do not know how teachers feel either.
Everything have 2 sides, in addition it includes Karma too.
Students, are growing teenagers, therefore difference in behavoir becomes more distinct and clearer due to influences from many factors. Some rowdy, some goody 2 shoes while others, your typical back stabber.
Teachers, faces pressure from principal, HOD and parents, not only that, but also students, especially the "Few" and several other factors. These people also have a fixed mentality, for they have fully matured and depending on the age, their mentality differs too. In addition, the amount of pressure they can handle also constitute a significant point.
Put these 2 groups of people together, results can be on either extremes. Ever wondered why you like some teachers while others may be dirt to you? Mainly due to communications but remember the 1st time you look a stranger straight into the eye? Compared to your attitude towards your best friend, it is very different.
If you expect a teacher, who is total stranger in the first place to be friendly towards you, it will be tough, remember they have a fixed mentality ( with exceptions to certain young teachers ). Most important thing is to get to know the teacher, bond with him/her, understand why he/she treat you like this.
Being, a matured adult, a teacher can definetly understand why you don't like him/her and gradually change for beneficial effects.
Bonding is important but always remember the teacher is a figure of authority, treat them with due respect and they will treat you as the same, if not, more. Play hard and Work equally hard.
Down to the point, an eye for an eye, treat the teacher like dirt, he/she give you dirt.
Students faces problems but remember, don't vent your anger upon the innocent. Teachers are human beings too, they too need TLC, understand them, their woes may not necessarily be smaller than yours, if not, larger.
I, too once favoured certain teachers while condemning others, major reasons being they are nice or retard. Without any in depth understanding of the teacher, I condemned those who irks me or who I think is not being nice. Therefore, these comments get spread out and the teacher, of course do not like it too and bores down hard.
In my current school, I had such an experience. A Gp tutor, male, on the 1st day of school handed out composition test and expect us to complete within a stipulated time, according to 'A' Levels. Naturally, all of us was't very happy about it, so things went downhill from there. Until things get serious, he wanted to talk to me face to face because of my bad attitude, he was stern but I gave nuts to his talk. Right in his face, I looked straight in his eye and called him arrogant, doesn't deserve any respect from the students, told him that I never liked him ever since I sat my eyes upon him, naturally he was flaring but the face to face talk got settled eventually. Later on things got smoother, class began to joke with him, he became more friendly ( less stern ) and even asked me to joined the inter-class debate competition.
I was skeptical but as things progress, I thought he was alright, this thought toally set in during the last round which will decide whether we will be champions or 1st runner up. We were up against his own class, we thought he would help his class instead of us but he fufilled his duty to us as a GP tutor by putting his best to help us, though we lost and got 1st runner up but the experience we had were in a rank of its own.
GP became fun with jokes and laughter throwing around but all things must come to an end. He was due to leave the school and left a while ago, the feeling was relatively moody, the class didn't want him to go but before he left, he gave us a set of 'assignment' to do which is kinda weird for a parting gift. When we open it, we realized it is actually his thoughts and feelings for the time he is with us, nice comments he left us and a thanks coupled with a miss. He's a nice teacher.
Anyway, this story clearly illustrate that students and teacher must understand each other for miracles to happen, both parties must give and take, understanding and communications is important to foster good relationships.
Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks

Think of this:Originally posted by jlzk:Dont worry our teachers as in for my class de not that supplementary teacher,we are very closed bonded anything happen to them or they are being scolded they will tell us then we as the class will write up a petition or instead go find that person who do so in groups.!And if the teacher is bullied by the staff for being too nice to students the whole class will for my case!So ya don't have to worry teacher being bullied and hiding things from us cause they share everything with us and even things that she should not..~!They will tell us everything without censorship what they are going thru.Perhaps my is the exception .We <3 our teachers by de way and this is what makes me wanna be teacher next time also.!But den not her!!!
If you want to see it this way, since it's your parents' taxes, have your parents to complain then. I'm sure most teachers will have more to say about you than you about the teacher.Originally posted by The man who was death:just because govt heavily subsidized our sch fees and we shouldn't say anything is like the govt are our parents and they own us....the subsidies also come from our parents' taxes....
Might as well set up next thread ,For students and teachers only,For complaint both have for each and then evaluate from there.Only Teachers and students no one is to comment on that only the complaints they have to made how is it?Originally posted by eagle:If you want to see it this way, since it's your parents' taxes, have your parents to complain then. There are no perfect students, and there are no perfect teachers. Students wish so much to have a nice and good teacher, yet teachers wish so much to have a nice and attentive class. Students want to complain about teachers, but teachers too want to complain about students.
And you will realise how childish and immature most of the student complaints are... Put yourself into the shoes of the teachers. Would you want a class like your present class?Originally posted by jlzk:Might as well set up next thread ,For students and teachers only,For complaint both have for each and then evaluate from there.Only Teachers and students no one is to comment on that only the complaints they have to made how is it?
It will likely to be yes. Why?Though students this days are hard to teach but its still the teachers responsiblity for what class they have posted to?More ever my class is aint as bad as you think.Well not necessary students complaints appear to be childish they do make sense! But it just overlooked. Why not instead put yourself in a student shoe?Their mindset and of teachers of course big difference but what makes a student to complaint eh?IF everything is fine what for complaint here and there? There is surely something wrong with the education system.Originally posted by eagle:And you will realise how childish and immature most of the student complaints are... Communication is a two way street.I do start my lessons with "warm-ups" and yes I am open to those who wants to know more and introvert to the rude and noisy (which means you learn nothing from me).Hey next time got free makan at your chalet dont forget to invite me alsoOriginally posted by Dead_Man_Inc:The teacher I talked about above, is like our friend
During our class chalet this year, near CNY. He is the only one who came everyday. Unlike others, who make excuses like clean the house.
As our chalet was quite a distance away, he drove us out to buy food back on the first night. And on the second night, he came to our BBQ, he drove some of us out and bought a lot of satays for us. Thats the thing that will be kept deep in my heart.
Sorry I flooded this page, because I simply can't understand why some students just have so many comments about teachers. And because the teachers that I met during my sec 5 last year, are all great teachers.
If you are willing to learn and work hard, they are always happy and help you.
Everything is good except this... A friendly teacher without being able to teach well will be under a lot of pressure from peers and higher authority.Originally posted by ItchyArmpit:The first time I see you, I was just hoping for a friendly teacher, not a teacher with good teaching skills. I was hoping to know you well, and hope you understand me. You may be awkward to merge and be like one of us, as your maturity and ours are just different.
Here is one story that happened last week in Japan. 2 months ago a young teacher got posted to my School as an English Teacher.I dont know where he came from but he couldnt spell, his pronunciation and grammer is horrible but he has talent....a real bullshit artist. The first week the kids loved him but by the second week parents started to complain then by the third the students also started to complain. We tried to help him but he was stubborn maybe because I am not Ang mor and he felt he didnt need any advice from any teachers.Last week the Board of Education people came to spot check on him but just before his presentation he asked me for advice.I told him that he had only two choice left,to either shoot himself or let us all watch him fcuk himself in class......he ended killing himself for 50 minutes in front of a cold & tough audience doing his "Tiger Show".Teachers are not paid to bluff and arrogance will only hurt you.Originally posted by eagle:Everything is good except this... Tomollo when you go school please throw stones at your Engrand teacherOriginally posted by ItchyArmpit:of cuz not to the standard where....... the teacher is stupid......
friendly cuz we can ask our doubts to the teachers easily....
not being afraid of the teacher that scold us......
it's not about who pays the money then who gets to complain. it's about the right to speak up, you dun have to pay to speak up against unreasonable things or just to have your views heard....Originally posted by eagle:If you want to see it this way, since it's your parents' taxes, have your parents to complain then.
