Why Cinemas blocks out back row seats?

  today went Cathay for an early 11am show. was surprised that the last 2-3 rows was "not available".
  
  later found out that those 2-3 rows are left empty.. why cant cinemas let people choose them and rather leave them empty?
  
  or they charge more for those seats?

  No lah, they block out the back row seats from online booking, coz those seats are reserved for those who walk in to buy tickets. I guess its for the fairness of those who booked online and those who buy on spot to get good seats.

  i guess so too, did several online bookings & the back 3 rows are normally blocked off

  i think is for those people with complimentary passes ah....
  cos if they are for latecomers.. next time everyone goes in late just to sit behind
