  If you are talking about growing the plant from a seed, I think the fridge environment is just too cold to cultivate plants, adding on to the lack of nutrients, lack of carbon dioxide.

  Actually, nothing in the ad confirmed or acknowledged that vegetables could be grown in the Misubishi fridge. If anything, I would say Xiang Yun in the ad laughed it off. Because when her daughter asked her the question, she just laughed.

  Here's a table of can and cannot....
  
  Toshiba fridge (made after 2005) : ok for deciduous plants
  Mitsubishi (most models) : ok for green plants, but set thermostat first
  General Electric : not recommended
  Panasonic (or any matsushita brands) : ok if there is no silver ion techology
  Sharp : best result if plasmacluster disabled because pollen will be filtered
  
  it's best to contact the manufacturer direct for advice.
