Foggy-looking weather unrelated to haze, says NEA
SINGAPORE: Many Singaporeans woke up to a hazy-looking morning on Saturday, wondering if the haze was back.
But according to the National Environment Agency (NEA), lighter winds caused a slower dispersion of fine particles in the air, which resulted in the foggy-looking sky.
In fact, the PSI on Saturday was below 50, within the healthy range.
The NEA has said earlier this month that Singapore may be spared from the peak of the haze because favourable weather conditions are expected for the rest of the year.
The agency forecasted a slightly wetter-than-usual weather from now till September.
Singapore has come up with a master plan to help Indonesia's Jambi province to tackle the haze and reduce slash-and-burn activities, and work is underway to formalise the agreement with Indonesia. - CNA/ac
