I think you mean Cat 5 cable connect to wall jack that provides high speed broadband connection if you connect the Cat 5 cable direct to the computer? If the owner wants wireless connection, then he has to get a WiFi router and connect the Cat 5 cable to the wireless router first right? Then computers in the house can connect wirelessly to the internet..Originally posted by antoh:no longer needs a modem and connected using Cat 5 cable to a wall jack that provide high speed broadband.

But 512Kbps is old school..so why would you say it will be better than Starhub and SingNet?Originally posted by antoh:dedicated 512Kps 768kps
maybe more expensive than singnet or starhub but i m sure will be 100% better than these provider.
because it is dedicated and connected via switch.Originally posted by alleggerita:But 512Kbps is old school..so why would you say it will be better than Starhub and SingNet?
Nonetheless, it MAY be dedicated (as they may say), but I'll not be fooled again.."dedicated" in terms of internet access means a dedicated line from subscriber's house all the way to the HQ of the service provider..BUT the internet, at the end of the day, is SHARED..so no matter how dedicated your signal is to the HQ, when HQ sends your request out to the Internet cloud, it's all SHARED..so in the end, throughput is still affected by how many people are surfing the net at the same time, dedicated or not dedicated..don't be fooled..Originally posted by antoh:because it is dedicated and connected via switch.
your house broadband is hinder by the modem.
512K is not your normal home 512K
That's why when I subscribe for intenet plans, I don't care about whether is it dedicated or not...Originally posted by antoh:yeah the pipe still at the subscriber side
