buying a car for work is ok. but i dont know why some ppl who obviously wants a car badly(either for showoff or watever) and although they have it, likes to go around telling ppl if not for their work they wouldn't have bought a car.
and their driving skills kam pua sucks! -
just to go to work and back.
a small bike would suffice.
personal transport / don't get caught in jams / cheap parking & road tax

yes but you car is still around on rainy days and near midnight.. Taxis have the copperfield way of disappearing

Most family buys a car (if they can afford). Especially those who has little kids, a car would be a great help in terms of emergencies.

i've always wondered, how come in the past parents could get by without personal transport and now people "need" personal transport.
they talk about things being more expensive now, in the past they weren't earning much either.
they say the weather is hotter now and they "need" aircon. which in fact is total bull because there are people who sleep without air conditioning.
in the past there was no cable tv, now people throw in almost $100 a month to cable TV.
i personally think its the way we live our lives now. if we were to remain simple like in the past, most middle income families will be "richer" -
