Excel function for accountants

My friend (who is not in accounts) will be teaching me some excel functions for data analysis.
However I do not have any idea on what are the things I should learn from him (I do not know what I don;t know
).
For people in banks / data analysis, care to share what function you use?
E.g. Pivot tables, Vlookup, Formulars, what else? Present value? -
pivot table is important as u may need to do monthly reports and such..
the sumations of each fields too as it will make ur job easier...
best to buy a book and read.. its good..
last but not least.. use macros... which involves vb programming (too chim for u)
but that's what im doing now.. makes my job way lot easier..

i am poly studying accounts and finance. juz had a computer pract test so far i was tot u up vlookup, If function, max, avg, min, tota and stuff actualli u sld juz get the microsoft excel book =D
