Singaporean detained at Immigration office in Riau islands
KARIMUN, Riau Islands (Antara): Singaporean national Chan Ngh Hoi, 67, has been detained since Thursday at a quarantine room of the Immigration Office in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands, for not possessing passport.
Chan who is a crane operator in his country (Singapore) presumed that he lost his passport when he was in Jambi province. "I checked the passport but failed to find it, then I reported it to the police," he said Monday.
The police then brought Chan to the Immigration Office in Tanjung Balai Karimun for detention.
Chan said he left Singapore for Tanjung Batu, Karimun regency, Riau Islands province aboard a ferry for making a tour last July.
On his arrival in Tanjung Batu, he then continued his trip to Jambi province aboard a ship. In Jambi, he did not stay at any hotels but at a local resident house. In the province, he had the opportunity to make a tour of the city before returning to Tanjung Balai Karimun.
Chan presumed that he lost his passport when making a tour in Jambi. (***)
