Hey everyone i wanna ask about when we are finding a job in private sector. Do the result affects your opportunitity of getting the job?

1st class honors get much better pay i guess. but i think jus bachelor, no diff rite, unless u fail la.

i'm thinking results although impt are not the key elements to getting you a job.
i think impression and working ability counts a great deal.
i'm also inclined to think that a degree or any other qualification is only impt for your first job. other than that, it boils down to your work experience. -
Sometimes they do see lar, so it does matter a bit lar. Your transcript doesn't look to good if its something like bbbbfcbcb one mah right?

but then it's only one of the factors ... I trumped a few classmates to my current job ... including a chap with a "living god" average of 89% !!!! ... -

Transcripts matter more if the job you applied for makes use heavily on what you studied in the uni. e.g doctors, lawyers, finance/banking/accounts ppl, engineers. Also depends on the company I guess.

If the company can afford and prefers a first class honors...yes you will get a higher starting pay. If its some abc company that only really needs someone with a pass...most likely they will say you are overqualified or just offer you the same pay. Whether u r realli 'zai' and capable will only be apparent after a few mths of work....hence, what degree u have is just a risky gauge of ur capabilities for the employers to choose who they want...
in the long run....nobody gives a shit about what degree u have. -

I have a friend who worked in a MNC HR department. He says that usually employers will employ people based on the Interview section. But if 2 candidates are almost similar, then it comes down to results.
While it is true that degree results are not everything, it is 1 factor taken into consideration. When little separates u from the other person during an interview, then of course they are going 2 look at ur results. After u get the job, then we talk about personality, ability and what-nots. -
It does if there's a rush of graduates applying for the same job.
Put it this way, if you have 100 grads all applying for one job, the company needs some form of screening to ensure that the best person in their view gets picked for the job.
It is only inevitable, due to time constraints, that they won't be able to speak to everyone, so they'll use your grades as a determining factor in calling you for an interview.
We're told that some employers actually have a points based system, whereby your grades score you certain points and so do your other activities. -
