I do sort of agree with you. At that time, most manufacturing company will be moving out of Singapore, leaving with a few companies behind in Singapore. Doesn't it make unemployment rate in manufacturing sector increase?Originally posted by ispyyy:No matter wat... there will be manufacturing sector in Singapore...

Becoz, manufacturing is one of the big pillars in supporting economy...
In fact, manufacturing directly affects economy..
Can you give me a few examples of high-end/high added value industries besides semicon?Originally posted by Meat Pao:manufacturing exists in Singapore....but not those like textiles or shoes.....they are higher-end.....such as semicon chips....
How long it can last.....well.....as long as it can......depends on global competition......but I think the government is also kan-chiong......so they always try to move even higher-end....such as biotech....
So there will always be manufacturing in Singapore.....but because of high labour cost, high overheads, the manifacturing sector will focus on high-end/ high added value industries..
Thank you..

yup yup very true, no company will manufacture low cost products here due to the high labour cost thus increasing cost to sustain profits which is not a good option if a company wants to market the products out. Most companies aims for low cost labour and sells their stuffs for a higher profit.Originally posted by Meat Pao:manufacturing exists in Singapore....but not those like textiles or shoes.....they are higher-end.....such as semicon chips....

Yes I agree, ship and oil rig building, it takes alot fo technologies and planing to build and meet deadlines. These are heavy industries that churched well in the past few years, some of these companies pay up to 7 -8 month bonus and annual pay can increase as much as 15% not including merit yet.Originally posted by ditzy:ship building.![]()
