help with guitar~

hey guys, i wanna ask a noob question -_-
for songs on the guitar with string picking like more than words, i cant seem to be able to pick properly when i first start playing it, eg like when u wake up and u try to play the song, u miss the correct strings.
so i wanna ask, is it because i lack practice, or is it because my technique is poor. cos i've been practicing for so long, and only when i've played the song like 2-3times, can i then get a hang of it
oh ya another question, the "tapping" part, what do you people tap the instrument with? ur palm? fingers? lol -
you jus need more pratice to get the 'feel' and finger coordination.

finger tapping? usually you play the note by effectively tapping on the string on the fretboard for the first note then pull off with your left hand fingers for the subsequent notes (like triplets, do the first one tapping with right hand then pull of with one and two fingers on your left hand)... just hammer on or pull off sometimes, whichevers easiest - works best on leccys imo, i'm not particularly good at em anyway but i find it really hard to get a decent sound out of tapping on my acoustic

Maybe you can try warming up your fingers. Sometimes my fingers feel numb..like no feel.
Maybe you can try finger weights.

if you've done it extensively for a month and still no improvement, then its something else. -
u miss because partly lack of practise i guess...if u play long enough u will know where is every string de till can close eyes n play...for tapping use ur index finger or middle finger n press at the fretboard...yep

When it comes to practice, i feel it is important to start slow and get comfortable with the fingering, changing of chords, coordination of the left and right hand. Do not try to play accordingly to the actual tempo of the song at the initial practice stage because your fingers are not familiar but progressively build up your speed and "muscle memory" once you are comfortable.
