I personally don't think that all animated sitcoms would cater to kids. I mean... look at family guy and the simpsons... naruto even... adults do watch them!

if you can't get it screen then do it via the net...youtube is a good way to start as you've already done, if it's good you'll get cult following and the rest is history....
In the next few days I hope to post a 10 minute pilot episode of an animated show I did called Circus. That is a little more polished. Lip-synching is better, sound-effect are better, developed characters and a fun, full-length story with tougher topics. Alcohol, sex and getting your head bitten off by a lion.
I haven't figured out a way to have people who watch it express how they feel in a quick, easy way so I can show to the network whether (and how many) people will like it. -
southpark is way funny.
sg 1s? dont talk animation, see pck. u think its funny, its seriously damn stupid. the jokes the most make me smile, dont laugh. but for southpark, it is roflmao that type. so u want make funny, choose southpark style. but u probably wont make it to tv either. sg too strict on this thing. dont follow pck style, very very predicatble jokes. -

However, the feedback from the industry is that a local animated sitcom will not be succesful because the majority of (adult) Singaporeans feel animation is for kids and these viewers will never accept a Simpsons or Family guy-type show featuring local characters.
I think the industry feels it would only make sense to make a show if it appeals to the majority of viewers, young and old, all races, lower-, middle- and high-income groups.
My conviction is that a sitcom that looks like South Park and plays like the Simpsons will get good ratings. I hope to prove it by getting people excited and expressing their interest in seeing made and aired in Singapore. -
The reason why south park is a popular series is due to it contents.
Its vulgar with tons of fart/sex jokes. Thats why people like it.
The other reason is that the producer is able to keep up to date and make episodes that revolve around all the latest gossips/news.
Examples would be the episode Paris hilton stuff the pineapple into her cheebye, the WoW episode, Chinpokomon, PSP episode when kenny goes to heaven, Wii episode when cartman freeze himself. Blah blah.
I pretty much watched everything from season 6~10.
Some episodes are actually quite sian.
Singaporeans will only be interested in sitcoms if you can include the latest gossips in sg, politics stuff, ahbeng stuff and all the crude language.
But in sg, sure kana ban.
If you going to revolve around the PCK singlish and lousy sg jokes.
Wont appeal i think. Even if it does, only to minority, and is those type of watch and forget show.

I think that if South Park's humour can be mixed with PCK and Under One Roof's humour, it could be a funny show that will be allowed and will appeal to you, me and also more conservative people. I think it's worth a try. Just the idea alone is already so different from what's been on offer so far, it'll be exciting to see. -

The best humor is uncensored humor. That is why Singapore will never make it until the laws change (which it won't in the near future).

I don't want to do anything offensive per se. I want to do something funny. The pilot episode of Circus, which I'll try to post tomorrow, is closer to the ideal. Once there's a budget, the overall quality will go up.
BTW I think Mr Brown is still in Singapore. He lost his column in TODAY, that's all I heard. -

better to think of it now though abit depressing then 1 year of hard work down the road you find yourself stuck at the censors.
on the other hand, i think it might be better to do an online thing instead with advertising for the revenue. either to earn or to cover cost. things to think about

A South Park-style show not so much content-wise, but in terms of the jerky, cheap-looking animation style.
I believe most Singaporean viewers will accept a show that looks like South Park if the content is local, and of course within local censorship guidelines.

you have good talent in animation, however i suggest you leave the storyline to others. i find it hard to laugh at. but gotta give you credit for the artwork.
