  Google for Yamipod or iDump.
  
  Both works just the way u wanted. Freeware too.

  Used to be. But because of RIAA and similiar associations, iTunes no longer has such function for iPod songs

  iTunes is the best software I have used. Many ppl got for iPod coz of iTunes.
  
  Apple has protections on songs u put in your iPod. You could view them raw files under a hidden file in iPod hardisk, but its troublesome as all files are code-named.
  
  Thus to extract songs better use 3rd party software. iDump.

  they are kept in a secure partition in the iPod HDD and have their file names all scrambled up.

  The TS said he needed to transfer some songs from iPod to iTunes. Assuming that these songs does not exist in the computer, there is no way iTunes can do it for you.

  go files and folders. check the box which says show hidden files and folders. go to ipod control>music.

  the names are scrambled but when u load into itunes or other players, the song name will be correct.
