Well, if you like a more scientific way of looking at it (forgive the pun), people are attracted to symmetry and proportion, as these are indicators of good genes and health. pple are attracted to people whom they think are as 'good-looking' as themselves.
so if a (what you think is) good looking person is with a (what u think is) ugly person, that's just your own perception of what beauty is.
