Recommendation for hotels

i've got some friends coming over from australia staying for 4 days.
is there any reasonable hotels which is accessible to town?
he was looking at hangout at mount emily. but he said it was $120 australian a night, i figured there were cheaper hotels around
any better recommendation? and if you know the exact rates even better.
hotel81 is quite alright right? though sometimes got seedy people. -
Want cheap? Backpackers hotels then. At Bencoolen or try prince of wales at little india $10AUD per night.
Otherwise Hotel81. But I think Hotel81 isn't going to be that cheap either. -
No point spending lots of money on a hotel room if you are not going to be in most of the time.Try Bencoolen street Strand Hotel maybe still under S$100 or look under budget hotels in the internet.

grand central hotel. Very near to town. Abt $120 if im not wrong. -

or Hotel Asia... few mins walk to orchard... -

the hotels around geylang are the cheapest. plus their pretty accessable both by bus and taxi, their around CBD (5 mins to suntec) and close to orchard.
just to stay those away from the red light area.
my advice. just book 1 night, then go hunting for better deals.

habbohotel is nice, it's free of charge, unless u wan to purchase stuffs. otherwise it's free staying .

Ask your friend to book through a local travel agent on their side? or you can enquire with a local travel agent in the singapore side for them on hotel price.

I'd recommend Strand hotel in Bencoolen, it's near Bugis and just a 10 mins car ride to town - without the jam of course
The rates are at 80 bucks a day, with a miserable pool table at the lobby; a cafe; room service; bla bla...
The rooms are pretty tidy, the beds are quite okay to sleep on - I had no complaints bout the room except the really small TV and bo mini fridge...

Pardon my mistake on the mini fridge, I didn't have much time to check the room out whenever I was there in the past
And no comments on the hookers, I don't believe in paying for physical needs (so naturally it's not in my observation)
