If you're seated, with your back against the backrest, your ribcage cannot expand all around. Just use the edge and sit upright.Originally posted by oOprinceOo:btw they say. sit down very hard to sing??

It's like you are using your somewhere around the chest area instead of using your throat , diaphram is somewhere below your chest area. (See pic bellow).
Try to take a deep breath and then try to project your sound from there.

ah hah thanks alot, will try ur technique!Originally posted by Jezmeister:best way I've found to learn it - stand up loosely, feed shoulder width apart etc, put a hand on your stomach to make sure you're using it - your shoulders shouldn't move at all, and go up and down scales but on every note take a deep breath and do a very over the top 'oh' or 'ah' sound for it and strongly force the air out without moving your shoulders, so it effectively seems to be coming from your stomach. you'll probably only manage a few scales before it starts to ache or hurt a little first time but you'll get used to it after a while (by that i mean stop and do it again later not carry on when it hurts) - after a while you'll find it gets easier and, hopefully, you'll be able to translate that technique into controlled breathing and singing for your songs
not sort of army straight though, you want to be straight and relaxed, if you've got your back completely straight and your shoulders held back etc you're making breathing harder. another thing on those lines is keeping your knees relaxed, you lock your knees your back is no longer at all straight (try it if you don't believe me)Originally posted by Kuali Baba:Oh, and keep your back straight.
Sing from yr intestines better, or right below more better. Singing is from the voice box, diapram and all other organs related are for breathing and not singing ya.Originally posted by selfobliged:sing from your stomach, can project your voice more...i think.
