food republic and bread talk have the same bosses and the bakery has also hired a number of ft cashiers too......then again you've got to realise not many local sweet young things are willing to do cleaning....just as migrants to western lands are prepared to do whatever it takes, even doctors from paki and india are prepared to drive cabs in us or aussie....

wah, 95% confidence interval or LEVEL? Anway, your observations about a sample of SG gals are quite representative of the population. Our 'sweet' young gals cannot cook for sure, always trying to get into a man's pants and they drive (with P licence) you to the walls. As for educated and speaking English, even that cannot be compared to cheena gals. let's be objective.
the reason these ladies from China can come here to work is about costs.
same as some of the manual workers, they are more affordable.
why locals don't do it? simply, it can't pay the bills...
to be fair, who doesn't want a good paying job, in a nice environment??
as for sg girls, I think their roles have moved. they aren't the same as our mothers in that, they can fully concentrate on managing the house.
Most of them need to work, in order to pay the bills and of course raise the quality of life for the whole family..
In short, it is no longer a man dominated breadwinner society..
Gals are doing their bit for the economy, and are earning good salary and as a whole, benefits the whole family. On that note, it is also unfair to expect gals after their work, to be a full time housewife and mother. -

it is true that gals are doing their bit for the economy, and are earning good salary and as a whole,but lets not forget that they have a significant time advantage to climb up the coporate ladder as compared to men of the same age. the issue here however is not abt ns, its abt the old societal pov formed by us sgporeans. men generally, is the traditional breadwinner. u arent a man if u cant bring home the bread. the cost and standard of living is also much higher and younger people do not need to worry abt $$, solved by parental scholarship. therefore, we, tend to be more pampered. not mentioning the fact that girls do not serve ns and are treated like gold. sg guys that cannot get local girls are perceived as losers. if the povs and the attitudes do not change. this kind of situation will stand as of it is now, probably mroe influx of foreign brides will join in. -
