I've just recieved a summon letter from the warrant enforcement unit, saying that the court have issued a warrant of arrest against me in connection with summons (i'm innocent ok lol). Immediately i called them up and asked them whats the summon for, so they did a check and said that its for throwing cig butt on tampines mall on the 31st of july at around 6.20pm. Now i'm not a smoker + i was working at clementi at the point of time so i'm quite puzzled on how the hell i recieved my summon. I told them that and they asked me to go down to the Police cantonment complex to get my court date, and then procede to the NEA to get an appeal. Fine, when i got down to nea, they told me to write in and the appeal would take 2-3weeks to be process. I've never lost my IC + i've never lent it to anyone before + i'm not even there at that particular day. How the heck did those officers get my particulars, what on earth are they doing!

I think the best thing you can do is to get proof that you are not there at that time and day. Once you can get proof that you are not there (a reliable witness, etc) you can use that as an alibi to show its impossible for you to have committed that act.

Worse come to worst you have to attend court before they finish processing it, then just explain your predicament during the session, although I know it sound really stupid.. They definitely have no right to pass judgment before all evidence are processed so I guess this will just be a major source of annoyance thats all. Since you allege that you were in Clementi whereas the littering offence occurred in Tampines, do you have an alibi witness? If you were working in Clementi at the time in question, do you have a punch card or colleagues who can prove this?
You should still write to the Registrar of the Sub Courts to contest the offence. This is the proper procedure. Your refusal to attend court on the scheduled date and time could amount to a contempt of court which is an imprisonable offence!
