This is nothing about equality or whatsoever. The reason why we should do this is because
1. It is not easy to open a door in high heels. Besides, most girls have frail and weak arms.
2. It is difficult to stand up at a table without looking clumsy or tripping over their dress.
3. They have weak arms and legs, and i could use some endurance training while shopping.
I think most guys who ever had a girlfriend would understand all these and not cite reasons such as "oh, it's the new age!" or "Oh, they are calling for equality and now this?!".
After all, men are generally the superior gender in terms of physical strength, hence, it would be helpful to be a gentlemen. -

it always impress me a bit if any guy at the table helps me to make an order and say things like "fish n chips for this lady" blah blah..
and when i casually say things like 'i would prefer to eat fries with mayo', the guy will automatically ask the waiter if they have mayo.
things like that lor..
not purposely go and open door, pull the chair, watever..
i look into small details. -
For me, very simple, help them in anyway I can, and within reasonable la.
If getting overboard, will obviously let them know, in a kind manner la. Not to those only who are chio but also those ugly or standard looking la. Otherwise people will say you baised la, flirt and etc. I believe all woman are beautiful in both in interior and out exterior, they should be treated equally.

eh. the local guys which i know here don't display gentleman habits leh. only waiters offer to push the chair for me when i go restaurents
anyway i feel caucasian guys are more gentleman -

basic courtesy, holdin the door for someone yes...that i believe its ok to hold for anyone...i do that all the time, i dun reali care if ppl smile or acknowledge it but it does feel good when there r those ppl who do la of course...
n i agree, these r acts of courtesy, not necessarily limited to men onli i guess...if u can do something with greater ease, then juz help... as long as it doesnt take a great toll of u it shld b ok isnt it? -

Once i was dinin with a group of people, then this girl, close friend, and i quite like her, sat opposite me, we shared ice cream. It's a long table, with seats 1-1 facin each other.
Then suddenly she burped (i forgot whats it, or she dropped her utensils and makin a super loud sound or make the table messy, somethin which is embarassin that is) , then everyone (friends) was lookin to our direction.. with expressions like, askin for an explanantion to whats it.
So to save her from embarassement, i said it was me.... then re-do what she had done (forgot whats that) to make it more believable for them, and i laughed it off and continued my meal.
But somehow, they know it wasnt me, i dont know why,
then they said 'dont bluff' then laugh Then they said well done tho or somethin like that
hmm.. thats one case -

i think it will be weird not to hold the door for your female friend, regardless pretty or not.. cannot be:
(a) she walking in front of you, reach the door 1st, push the door DAMN hard then it's not budging then you stand there watch show and say 'oei gin leh..' rite?
(b) she walk behind you you reach the door 1st, push liao then walk ahead and then let go and let the door slam into her face?
(c) you two walk tgt, reach the door, then both waiting for each other to open the door..? play scissors paper stone loser open?
