I tested for carbonate... carbonate present... carbon dioxide gas present... effervescence shown
Then, I tested for Chlorine... ALSO Present?!?! White ppt formed
Lastly, Zinc present too...
Due to lack of time to think, I left my salt as Zinc Chloride
Haizz,,, i heard later on from my sci teacher, it was zinc carbonate...
So how many marks will I be deducted?!?! I left all present ... and salt as Zinc Chloride...
I suspect Chlorine was present in my test due to my improper cleaning of test tube ... T.T
S2pid Physics used up so much of my time...
I drew a best fitting line T.T coz 1 of my points went out of the curve shape... -

Test for chlorine gas is use blue litmus paper. It'll bleach it.
Take 2 marks for each answer. -

Another part is ask you add nitric acid den note down observations etc. I bubble through limewater but nth happen. But can see effervescence. I see the QA table if add nitric acid is test for carbonate den i just write Zinc Carbonate. -

To be honest, I felt that the concentration they told us to do was too little... I realised from all my friends and their friends who took the Practical Exam had around the same results. It's either they have no reaction with Nitric Acid, or limewater only turned slightly chalky...
For me, I left Carbon Dioxide Gas present, Effervescence shown, bubbles appear, Test with limewater as my answers.
However, I also left Chlorine present for the next question.
In the end, I left my salt as Zinc Chloride.
So does that mean I'll would most likely get 3-5 marks deducted?
Do you guys feel that the standard will be down? As in, 21/30 = Sure A2? or B3? I really hope >21 = A2 & A1 ^^

the salt is zinc carbonate...
the salt is not a chloride, no chloride anion...
for the gas test, effervescence was observed...gas evolved produced a white precipitate in limewater...hence the gas is carbon dioxide.
