Hi all, I really hope someone can help me with this.
In 2005, I wrote for this magazine called Rouge and the publishing company folded several months later. Since then I've been chasing for payment to no avail. The publisher also owns a Jap language school, Inoue (www.inoue.com.sg) and I visited the publisher at Inoue 3 times, and emailed and smsed her many times more.
1st trip - Publisher gave me a cheuqe - that bounced
2nd trip - Publisher first gave me a sob story of how her business was not doing well and then started yelling at me when I insisted on payment. I then made her sign a memo to pay me in 2 instalments.
3rd trip - Publisher gave me cheque. (Jap teachers walking all around = bad bussiness?). Signed another memo certifying that the first instalment has been paid and will pay me 2nd instalment on a certain date.
Couldn't cash cheque - apparently the company cancelled the cheque.
I don't have the cash to bring them to court and the sum owed (below $2k) doesn't justify me in sueing them myself. Is there any way I can get my money back?
CASE is for goods and services.. and police said this isn't a criminal case..(even if it seems criminal to me! how can anyone give bounced cheques or cancel cheques due for payment??)Originally posted by alan-:bring them to case lah
this is why i think campy's advise is better.Originally posted by usherer01:CASE is for goods and services.. and police said this isn't a criminal case..(even if it seems criminal to me! how can anyone give bounced cheques or cancel cheques due for payment??)

Small Claims court registrar said that I'm better off "letting go". He was very ..zen-like (about my money). In short, he saw no way out.Originally posted by aku1b0d0:this is why i think campy's advise is better.
