  But ultimately, it IS a prank, and the better thing to do would be to educate the prankster on religious sensitivities instead of trying to punish him.

  NTUC FairPrice said it will make a police report over "a deliberate and wilful act of mischief" to tamper with its packaging of "Pasar Fresh Pork". It said it takes such matters seriously. A photo by a MediaCorp viewer showed a pack of NTUC's Pasar pork with a halal sticker from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore.   Prank, express our disdain and move on.
  Tampering, with food packaging, is a serious matter.
  This maybe a one-off incident, but Singapore would like to nab the culprit and make an example out of him.
  So as to discourage others from doing likewise.
  Its not funny, for the supermarket.
  
  Its easier to understand with this scenario:
  If someone stuck a Skull and Cross-bone sticker with the word Poison on to a bottle of milk. Shoppers would be alarmed, and will put off buying for a while.
