I think you can train your children to be pastors if they want to make big bucks,,,, some parents may be cashing on this trend,,, distasteful but reality bites

I am not against Pastors being millionaires. All I want to know is HOW the money donated to the church is being handled.
Let's face it, there is no way anyone can claim that the donations made do not go towards Pastors salary. I think the point most people want to make or know is HOW MUCH goes towards their salary.
Some people may think TT Durai, NKF and the things we are discussing in this thread does not mix, but don't kid ourselves. It is the same thing. If more money goes towards the pockets of officials than to what was originally intended, don't we deserve some answers? Or do we just blindly listen to what our leaders tell us, and trust them implicitly? -

Tithes and offerings are given on one's own accord based on how he establishes his relationship with God.
The main purpose of churches is therefore, spread the gospel.

Until we can have the statistics of Pastors in Singapore who are millionares.
It's pretty unfair to make such comment and generalise all of them.
I know of some pastors who is trying to make ends meet, and some trying to support his daughter university fees. -
You see. We give our tithes and offerings as a sacrifice to God and we have no control where the money goes to and how is it handled. When we've put our trust in God and fulfil our personal obligations why should we be concerned with the nitty gritty, about how the funds are managed, about how much salary the pastor is taking?
You are giving to know that your money is put into good use or are you giving as an obedience to God?
As a believer we, give willingly, having the faith that we are building God's kingdom and spread the gospel.
Yes I know there are lots and lots of people out there who are very concerned about whether the church is mishandling the funds its members give or not putting it into its best use.
But can i ask, who are you to judge, make baseless one sided assumptions just because one church pastor tend to be more prosperous than others?
Please know a church is a place of religious worship, not charitable organisation.
Please stop flaming for the sake of doing so. -

If everyone think like that, then there's nothing wrong with corruption. Seem unfair to T.T Durai, isn't it? Afterall, where the money for NKF is not our business also, right? I wonder why Mother Teresa wasn't as rich when she had more followers than anyone could imagine? I wonder why, as she was probably just many many times poorer than most church pastors, we see numerous wise and gracious acts and lots of wisdom from her words?
If you see the pastor as messenger of Jesus, what did he do with the money given to him? Why does it not matter when surely you want goodness out of the money that you have given? Won't we taught that turning a blind eye to a crime is as good as condoning the crime?
Also, like what many forumers has already pointed out, is giving part of your salary to a church more of a norm to be accepted into Christianity? Does the pastor bother to explain to you the significance before accepting the contribution from you or is it no more than a matter than he simply asking or even telling you this norm?
Why don't churches stop accepting monetary contributions when there is really more than enough?
Isn't it a known fact that MONEY is the ROOT OF ALL GREED? And I've always see people/organisations that gather more money than what they really need as GREEDY and FEARFUL people/entities.
Just like Durai's golden tap, if that CHC's pastor room is what he uses, it also tells so much of the greed he needs all seemingly in the name of goodness he has done. -

i think anglican and methodist clergy are paid according to moe teachers' rate....other smaller churches pay less, mega ones like chc and the ncc are paid over the top......

Even before it was made known to the public her doubts about a creator, I respected her as a kind lady, and would not hesitate to give her my support if she requested. Because I had no doubt it will be used wisely. Mother Teresa's motive preached the teachings of the god she wanted to strongly believe but yet reality seems to tell a different story. Regardless, her story, tells of a kind heart and pure motives in the name of goodness and the god she wanted to believe in. There are actually questions about mother threasa. In the west, no one dared to criticize her because she was widely regarded as almost a living saint and no one wants to offend the christian right. As to your statement that you 'would not hesitate to give her your support' because you' had no doubt it will be used wisely, mother threasa received millions of dollars in contributions (which is not surprising considering her exulted status. No one really knows where the money went.
