Jews were distinguished from the other Europeans through the language they speak, their religious practice (Judaism), their names.

That even progressed to NOT reporting one you suspected as being punishable as treason...and you and your family could be taken away or killed as a "jew sympathizer".
Jewish men, then and now, were circumsized. The Nazi official could require anyone, anywhere, to drop their pants and prove they weren't Jewish.
Many Jews followed certain customs, laws and rituals that would expose them or could be used to do so- if they keep Kosher for example - forcing them to eat pork was vile and offensive, even phyiscally impossible for someone brought up to avoid it. Wearing a yamulkhe or prayer shawl was a dead giveaway.
Having any "Jewish things" in your house, prayer books, picture of "obviously Jewish" relatives, all were enough proof. (And consider Jews are required to have a mezzuah with a certain prayer on the doorposts of their house). " -
If you are talking about WWII, I remember reading a book about it.
The Jews had to wear a yellow star on their clothes, so it kind of made it easy to identify them.
Other than that, I don't know much about Jews. -

My grandma said jews are the most intelligent and tolerant people in term of wars and business. The wall street in NY are full of jews traders and businessmen, most are genius, the money they generated used to channel to Israel to support their brothers and sisters there to fight against the Arabs. She also told me the next group of people that are intelligent and good in politics and business is the Chinese. Given a positive environment, these two groups of people can shine and create empires.
The German peoples is believed to be the descendent of Northern India origin, the aryans, they were said to have migrated to Germany during Alexandra the great invasion. They are also very intelligent with good leadership and very cunning.
Next is the Japanese peoples, the smartest copier of the world inventors, like to be independent from others, economical and very united in believing that they are the Sun peoples and the Emperor is the son of Heaven.
Both the Nazis (a german party during WWII) and the Japanese were allied during WWII. Their objectives is to erase other races that are smarter than them, because they believed if they do not erase these peoples, they will be overthrown sooner or later by these two groups of people said to be, intellectually, on par or even better than them.

The Nazis had very good records of the population.
Frankly, after the Nazis, only Singapore has such efficiency in keeping detailed records of its population. -
