Why always charity shows?

Man, I;m just sick of those Ch8 charity shows. how many times per year I already lost count?
I mean most singaporeans are just middle class who have problems dealing with ever higher cost of living
Why the government don't do something about it and always appeal to public sympathy?Somehow it juist doesn't make sense

Just don't donate and they will stop doing it lor. Imagine at end of the charity show, they raise $0.

Just stop donating. Until a point when the donations raised arent even enough to cover production costs, and then charity shows will end.

Thing is, u think they wanna do charity shows meh? People seldom donate to them, then badly in need of funds, so need people 2 donate mah. Which 1 is the best medium to get people 2 donate? TV of course. Last time, there were flag day every Saturday and numerous Charity draws.. Then Government set up community chest. All these tone down.. nowadays seldom heard of community chest.. instead charity show started showing up with NKF being the fore runner.. so what ever happen to community chest ? Anyone know ?

nong nong ago, the minimum donation through phone is $2, now at least $10. Every weekend still got flag day. last time NKF only once a year. Then overseas and local NKF, den 2times a year. After that, cancer, president star charity, ren ci, bla bla bla. Since government don't like welfare, why so much charity shows
