Where did you get your guides? Haha..I thought most guides will say plasma is better?
But both have pros and cons la..
PLASMA'S PROS:
1) Very rich contrast compared to LCD
2) More colours
3) Instantaneous response time unlike LCD screen, which means minial ghosting for plasma screens
4) Looks more expensive than LCD at first, but when compared it is cheap for 'bucks-per-inch'.
PLASMA'S CONS:
1) There's still radiation from the screen like CRT TVs
2) Heavier than LCD TVs
3) Higher power consumption
4) Burn Marks (not much of a problem now though)
LCD'S PROS:
1) No burn marks
2) Lighter
3) Less power consumption
4) No radiation from screen
LCD'S CONS:
1) Contrast not as good as plasma because it uses a backlight for illumination, hence the black can never be pure black, unlike plasma, which can attain pure black
2) Less colours (but constantly improving)
3) Slower pixels response time (fastest currently is 2ms, but also constantly improving)
4) Backlight has quoted 60,000 hours lifespan (but can change backlight after 60,000 hours)
5) More expensive than plasma when you compare their 'bucks-per-inch'
So for picture perfect freaks and if you have lots of space to spare, go for plasmas..but if your living room area is small and you care more about power consumption than picture quality, LCD might be the way to go..
