please advise on whether i should go to Small Claims Tribunl

hi
i am a student in NUS,
i purchased a K800i set from a shop in Sim Lim square,
at the time of purchase the shopkeeper didnt tell me that it has no warranty as it was an export set. he said it will work fine in singapore.
but i found out that it has a peculiar problem - if i do not make or receive any calls or sms for about 2 hours then my phone becomes unreachable to anyone trying to call me.
when i told that to the shop, they told me to go to the service center. the sony service center people told me that this set had no warranty and it is the software of the phone that is causing the network problem, since it is made to work for Vodafone Germany. if they try to change the software (of course at a cost), the phone may not switch on at all.
i told this to the shop, and they washed their hands off it, they said they cant do anything about it.
i went to the CASE, and had some negotiations with the shop, but now they claim that i was quoted 2 prices - for a set with warranty and for a set without it, and i chose the set without warranty, because it was cheap.
that day at another shop i was getting a set for 480 with warranty, while from this shop i got it for 425.
i want to know whether i should go to the Small Claims tribunal, whether my case has any weight?
since now they claim that they quoted me 2 prices, and i have no evidence to show what really happened that day.
i wish i had a spy camera on me that day.

the 1st rule is never ever buy anything from sim lim
i saw an ang mo almost wanting to bash up one ah beng shop assistant there for selling him a phone that i think was probably like yours

another one paid $1k+ for a simple camera which is retailing at $499 in the market. -

sim lim area got a lot of these guys....i think they one guy can crush the **** out of 5 - 6 little ah-beng skinny gangsters. -

I see many serious suggestions le, if you're looking for someone to say "SUE LAR SUE LAR" then it's not advise, it's called motivation.
Seriously, unless you have solid evidence that the shope did not quote you two different prices, it's a gone case...
Or maybe you can find some other people who also get cheated by this shop, bring this up during court and hopefully, some of them have some evidence as well...
Otherwise, save that 80 bucks (or is it 30 forget le) and your time, try selling it off at eBay den.

You are a student so you have free time while they are a business and they will find it very troublesome to attend court...
but if you win, they can don't pay you and you need to get a lawyer to take further action (like get a court order to take their goods in the shop) and if you lose, you have to pay for their transport to Small Claims court....
my advice to you is sue them in small claims and then get someone to negotiate for you to "settle" the case before it goes to small claims. -
but how much is the phone? small claims is $50/- and if you sue them, it is to chu chi and not really worth it in terms of money...

the phone cost me 425 from that shop
i hv already spent 18 more to negotiate through CASE and no compromise was reached. next step the CASE can do is Mediation, for more fee, and if i have to go for mediation, then better goto SCT, at least it has more legal weight.
now either i can go to SCT or get it repaired myself
to change the software thru wotan or davinci maybe it will cost 25,
but if that does not correct the problem, then to get the hardware repaired, i dont know how much it will cost.
but still, getting it repaired myself seems more convenient.

i will wait for more comments till sometime next week,and then decide, what to do.

Let Case take up with the mediation 1st.

Yes, you should if you want a refund.
However, the process is quite troublesome and time-consuming.
But it's the only recourse to get a refund......
