Dye and Highlight

As above, what are the difference?
My friend highlight her hair for $40 bucks, but what about dye, and what the difference between dye and highlight?
Can anyone enlighten me on this?

dunno if i'm correct...
dye = whole head same colour
highlight = a few strands got colour, can have multiple colour
chemical may be the same

Dye can be any color, just like old peoples dyed their white hair black also call dye ya, but it is not those kinky type where it shine, highlight as the name state, is dying with a highlighted color, it gives the shine with special color that give the youthful look for the young like us, but of course Unker and Aunti also can highlight.Originally posted by toyota-corolla:As above, what are the difference?

I believe in school or office you also use a highlighter to highlight certain important note too rite?
The cost of highlighting or dye, is the solution, some are good stuff from the west, some are cheap from taiwan, thailand or china, if used wrongly, hairdrop and hair whitened can occurs with poor solution. A lots young peoples here are suffering from premature hair drop and whitening is partly because of constant dying of hair with poor solution.
Nevertheless, highlighting is no more in fashion. -
