MI/ other JC

whats the diff between MI and other JC? other than MI ish taking L1R4 and also 3 years course.
is there any benefits with going into MI? then MI compared to poly, which one is better? -
comparing MI and poly is = comparing A lvl and Diploma

The only good thing about MI is that they have this 'Dual Track Programme' in which you graduate with 'A' level and a Diploma. But I dunno where the Diploma is from (not sure whether is it recognised in Singapore) and it's very taxing. Might even affect your 'A' level results.
IMO, 3 years might as well go poly than go MI. -

If you prefer the learning way right now(Sec sch) then choose MI/JC.It all boils down to whether you want to work hard or not.Although you may lag behind by one year, come to think of it you have one more year to prepare for your As.But you must be ready to work hard.
If you prefer project/module style learning, then go for poly -

MI is 1 year longer but every intervals for semester the teachers will monitor ur results and tell u if ur doing well, if not drop and go poly.

It was introduced after the merger, when I was at Jurong Institute, there wasn't such a programme.
Culture wise, you'd need to be really independant to ensure you do not get pulled into slacking your time away.
Things seem to have improved since my time, which was around 2002. -

Though by and large, the student population was filled with abject failures with nothing more than an aspiration to pass their A-levels. -

If you want to study Arts and Social Sciences, go to MI. If you study hard, get a good A-level certificate with some As and Bs, and a good GP grade of B3 and above, it's easier.Originally posted by Y_Shun:hmm then from MI/POly which one is easier to get into Uni
However, if you're going for business/engineering related disciplines, I'd suggest you head to a Poly, but make sure you're in the top 5-10% of your cohort, then when you go to Uni, you can skip a year or two. It depends.
I'm not from an Engineering background, so that's all I know about that.
Of course, if you want to save money, just go MI Science and piah your way through and be independant. -
MI
u take the same alvl paper with RJC,HCI,VJC,TJC,NJC and some big brands to name.. keeennnnaaa owwnnedd then go poly= 6 years
well ... i have seen alot of A lvls failures going to poly in the end.. -

Almost dropped out in Year 1, ended up motivating myself and getting my distinctions. -
i heard from my friends in MJC they so competitive and despite mugging so hard many of them just managed to scrap thru..
they open mouth only is like"Whole class failed GP,Whole class failed this,Whole class failed that..."
then some drop out jc go poly suddenly become top students..
not showing favoritism to poly but i find that poly still a safer route with results obtained via accumulation of many tests rather than taking the A lvls having just 1 chance u do badly or in some unexpected circumstances that u couldnt help it and do badly its gone..gg..
in addition with competition from the thousands of Elites and mugging machines,u can't really afford the time to even engage in any uncontrolled romance or even just to have some entertainment/leisure time..
well.. that's in my opinion -

Please focus on your GP. It is very important. Start reading your Time, Economist and BBC websites. -
anyway i heard from my teacher that the Raffles are doing bombastic subjects like philosophy,astronomy etc ??
and Raffles here?? bet u can't find any tuition for these subjects unless u're really rich anyway any raffles taking these subs care to share how's it like?? -
