S-POP HURRAY?

I don't know what S-POP is all about...and dun care...but using JJ to front it in its first advert was a turn-off...but then, I am sure he has his fans in Singapore.
As for Yanzi, agree with Trix that she has a unique voice, although not a strong voice. She can sing only songs that are especially written for her. I thought her voice was not suitable at all for the ASEAN song that Dick Lee wrote...I thought perhaps Kit Chan would have been a better choice for that song, but then Yanzi was chosen probably because of her popularity. -

I believe Singapore has a lot of talents. The one thing that Singapore lacks is packaging and style. I observe that Singaporeans in general are not very particular in their appeal. They do not how to carry and present themselves well in the public such as the way they talk, they eat, they stand, they sit, they dress and etc. Guess the Govt and society place a lot of emphasis on substance of people rather than wholesome which include substance and style. Hence they loose edge to their counterparts in the region who have been wary of wholesome since young. Time for Singapore to change. Wholesome is the keyword.

Here is my 2 cents worth of opinion: Almost every SG singer first went to Taiwan to develop their Career. Because Taiwan has many talent song writers and producers. Taiwan is a good grooming ground for SG singers.
This explains why Step Sun or JJ Lin is based in Taiwan most of the time. So inherently i would say to a certain extent their works shd bear certain influence from their host country i.e. Taiwan.
Hence, S-POP? Well.. Its hard to justify these Singers as S-POP, when they are nurtured professionally in Taiwan.. and not in SINgapore? At most we can call these Singers as Taiwanese Singers with Singapore Citizenship.
Step Sun, well.. her lOOks are really so-so, her face still has very serious acne problem, Of cz in the TV adverts, her face is photoshopped to LOOK picture perfect. The only salvaging aspect of her is that her vocal chords are Good bah. But then, I remember at the SuperStar competition, the judges say that to be a Superstar, you must have impeccable beauty(must have 1st), then secondly your vocal chords.
For JJ lin, Yeah i agree with previous posts that he is trying too hard to imiate Jay Chou.
For Huang Yi-Da, Well i really pity this dude, because he Looks so alike to Step Sun. In a way, i really pity him. But i respect that he is still pushing on in this industry. -
