Man hunted in Arizona for rape of terrier
LOS ANGELES - POLICE in the southwestern US state of Arizona are hunting a man linked to the rape and torture of a Jack Russell Terrier, a statement said on Wednesday.
Maricopa County Sheriff Deputies launched an investigation after the one-year-old dog was dropped off at an animal hospital near Phoenix suffering from burns to its ears and internal injuries.
Sheriff deputies tested the dog with a rape kit and a veterinarian who examined the animal said its injuries were consistent with rape.
Police have appealed for information about a man seen driving a truck near the animal hospital shortly before the dog was abandoned.
'We'd like to find the driver of this truck,' Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said. 'We're fairly certain he knows what happened to this dog and who may be responsible for it.'
Authorities have offered a US$2,000 (S$2,902) reward for information leading to an arrest, the statement said. -- AFP
