If you're a truly peace-loving Muslim, I guess you probably don't have much to say (based on experience). Which is perfectly alright. Most of the time.
The only danger is that those with extremist views will always be so much more outspoken. And they are the ones forming the new image of Islam today. Nothing more than just a facade for their insidious activities.

Suicide bombers. Even I, as a Muslim, do not think it's really a good thing to do to make a good impression for the Muslim community. How the hell do u think people thrice my age can't think like me? How can you prove the bombers are Muslims?

Well, I have to agree with you on this. American Muslims' lives' aren't as bad as the media makes it out to be. Of course, as a minority group in a country, the Muslims there should try to fit in nicely. They shouldn't do what is not needed. As long as they don't go around doing things that might offend or distrub the people and not be anti-social, they should have a relatively happy life there.
In fact, I hate to say this, but the americans seem to discriminate more racially. Say there are two muslims living in America, one that is of the 'white' descent and another which is 'non-white'. The white will be less discriminated. -

Religion used to be a moral compass but now just politics and ideology to control the masses.
Modernism, secularism is a form of religion too so even if american become islamic so what, life goes on..

A true muslim is what you see everyday in the malay muslim community in countries like singapore. A true muslim doesn't find the religion as a box that we are trap in, but as a direction to life like every other religion.
Every single week, on friday, during the regular sermon, everyweek the issue of our current politics is brought forward. On how we as muslims can help in our current society, oh how we can help our country to bigger success so that we as the muslim malay community can help in the growth of the country.
