i need something new to read.......

  which authors do you like?
  
  etc....
  
  preferably something light-hearted and easy to read. i've had enough of the 'deep/intellectual/requires reading between the lines' stuff...would rather not read self-help type books too. harry potter-esque would be great. but i've read all the harry potter ones already. at least thrice.

  Anthony Bourdain ! though he's a chef but his books are a good read... esp Kitchen Confidential.. that book will show and tell you more about the resturant biz and a cooks life..

  Actually have you tried English graphic novels? For example, John Constantine: Hellblazer, Watchmen, Sin City, 300, Sandman, Batman: the Dark Knight Returns. Very enjoyable reads, and you might be surprised by the level of sophistication of these comics.
