Mediatation or prayers to me is a diversion of thoughts, it helps in one way or the others, you can also try many other ways, like play a game, surf internet, go holidays or even go watch a movie. Whatever u do, the trouble will still be there, but at least, thru diversion of thoughts, u tends to have a clearer picture to solve the problem or even feel that it is a small problem.
Abit strenous Exercise like mountain climbing, long distant running or fast walking, gyms heavy training can also help u not only to forget about the trouble but also bring u a sense that the trouble is actually so small in comparing to what you can do now, it build confident and mental strength.
Mediatation is define a thot that seek the purest of mind by oneself. It does not need to be sitting, u can lie down to meditate, do walking meditation, running meditation, breathing meditation, yoga and even swimming mediatation.
