Loneliness is a killer, when your closest friend starts to pass away and you are not encouraged by your closest kin.. not that hard to imagine what you will be thinking.

Competition and Government Policies have taken "Securities" of Aging outside the costs of Employment.
Everybody should start selling MLM to one another to ensure that your old age is taken cared of.

Not only money. Your body system oso. Old liao, this organ problem, that bone cracked, other muscle paralysed, etc... endless suffering only. So prefer die lah.

Nope.. not really.. while i was in uk, i saw alot of old folk couple going on holiday (ard 70yrs+) coz they can.... they sold their home and dun have to worry much abt their kid nor medical fees... they have thing to look forward too...Originally posted by FireIce:why is this kinda thing oni referenced to singapore?

Unlike here... what can u do if u are broke and old. Cant even get a job.. Dun have money to do what u like to do. -
Such thing is a reflection of their desperation, fear and hopeless attitude towards living old... why can't they age in grace ?

No one escape old age unless you died young.
We are all born, struggle, growth, old, sick and die. It is a natural process of life, be englighted and u shall age gracefully be it rich or poor.
At your deathbed, in your final hours of life, what is money to u, what is luxury to you, what is sex to you, what is anger, revenge, jealous and hatre to you. You come naked with nothing, you go with nothing except...except one emotion....and that is Love within. -
dun say old folks. i already want to die early liao.

depends on the individual, even old folks.
Most important is independence.
Someone who is cooped up and denied freedom, will lose his spirit to live, and will hope to die.
The old lady, pushing a flat bed trolley collecting cartons, has the will to live. The old lady in a home, will be waiting to die.
We ( esp. the government) should be more generous towards healthy octogenarians who are mobile and can still work. Give them the money so that they can look after and feed themselves better. We have millions and millions to spare. (Even telephone, email scams can reap millions.)
Forcing them into a old folks home is not always humane. -
whn u are old, its hard to get a job. IF u ahve kids then it's still ok. If not u will b going around collecting cardboards and stuff.
so i rather die too. -

All for one solution, one solution for all.
I gave the cardboard collection as an illustration, not as a suggestion.
When you have a life, you will do something, when you do something, you have a life.
That something in old age cannot sustain a person economically, therefore help (welfare handout) is need just to keep the person going as long as he/she wants to or can.
But if you don't want to, the govt should save the money.
When euthanesia is an internationally accepted practice, Singapore will adopt it too. I only hope they don't make it compulsory at age 95. -
Basically Singaporeans love to complain, be it the young or old. If the old is rich, no medical problems, next thing they will complain is no grandchildren etc. Human beings are hard to satisfy. They should thank god they are not trapped in a war zone, and get to even live to a ripe age.

when u see an old auntie ravaging dustbins around 3am in the morning for cardboards and cans, you would understand why.
