1. I found out that almost all video-cameras have the same video-recording quality. the difference in price is the megapixels of the digital camera of the video camera which i do not need as i have a seperate digital camera. is this true?
I tried the basic canon video-cam.. i think it was mp140.. $599.. but the quality wasnt very clear on the screen though
2. I need good night vision recording. I heard that canon is the best brand for night recording. Sony has night recording but it's infra-red meaning that the colours are like green, white, black.. can anyone give me help on which model is good for night cam?
3. I do video-editing. for eg. putting them into cds together with headlines, effects etc. i heard that only tape and hardisk can do video-editing NOT dvd. Is this true?
4. If the above point is correct, i am very very limited for space as for TAPE, the video-cams are only available at the low-end range.. song's mid range is dvd while high range is hard disc.. hard disc has limited space as i dont bring a laptop on holiday and the space inside it is not enough for me. What do i do?
5. Lastly, any recommendations? Must be good at night cam, good quality recording, reasonably big not small for non-shakey videoing, must be able to do video-editing, budget less than $1500.

Dont get an ultra compact. Extremely small video cams have super small CCDs which is the light sensing chip. This is bad.
With reference to your qn about editing, editing is done on the computer, so you will download ur video to ur computer and edit. You can dl from tape, hdd, or DVD.
The main choosing factor is media. Tapes are expensive. HDD cannot expand, so once you are out of space, no more recording. DVDs can buy rewritables, but once again, DVDs are not cheap. The dvds used are diff size from standard computer size, so its abit more ex.
