Are you seeking to be a practising psychologist in the future or just interested in it as a degree course?
But..like Ah Lau said, it's very expensive for a distance learning course.. then again it's psychology.Originally posted by missqi:practising! thought of doing the bachelor's as a distance degree so i can just go elsewhere for master's to save moolah.v
yes dear. i don't mind paying, but i'm just not q sure about the uni's rep and whether it is recognized because i can't quite find an EXACT list that accepts this degree, though the webbie says it is recognized.Originally posted by LazerLordz:But..like Ah Lau said, it's very expensive for a distance learning course.. then again it's psychology.

woo thanks. ok pardon me, so in short it means that this degree is not recognized here?Originally posted by LazerLordz:http://www.singaporepsychologicalsociety.org/faq.cfm
There's something about accreditation in Singapore in that web link..
Are off-shore psychology programs accredited?
A: by the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS)
The Singapore Psychological Society does not and has not accredited any offshore psychology programs that are conducted in Singapore. Several local companies have falsely claimed that the Singapore Psychological Society accredits their offshore psychology programs. One such company was asked to publish a Notice of Apology to the SPS for falsely claiming that their offshore psychology programme is accredited by the SPS ( The Straits Times , January 31, 2001, page C25).
Not for professional practice though.. least that's what I understand from that page.Originally posted by missqi:woo thanks. ok pardon me, so in short it means that this degree is not recognized here?

True.. but I believe it's got to be a full degree program and not a distance-learning program.Originally posted by missqi:but my understanding is that
he Singapore Psychological Society will accept psychology degrees as qualifications for applying for SPS membership only if the psychology programs are fully accredited by the appropriate agencies.
* Psychology degrees completed at and conferred by American universities .
Bachelor's and Master's degrees in psychology must be completed at and conferred by American universities that are accredited by one of the following accrediting associations:
o Middle State Association of colleges and Schools
o New England Association of Schools and Colleges
o North Central Association of Schools and Colleges
o Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
o Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
o Western Association of Schools and Colleges
o Distance Education and Training Council (for Universities that only offers distance learning programs)
and the degree i want to do is fully accredited by the middle state assc. as seen from http://www.msache.org/institutions_view.asp?idinstitution=413
oggay. will ask soon. (:Originally posted by LazerLordz:True.. but I believe it's got to be a full degree program and not a distance-learning program.
You might want to contact them for a clearer picture.. such things..always fall into a grey area![]()
Usually the Masters render the Bachelor's irrelevant.Originally posted by missqi:oggay. will ask soon. (:
but i am under the assumption that the university itself of course recognizes the distance degree, and that i might even go there to do my master's, which makes the bachelor's part irrelevant.
anyw, thank you for the webbie!
