am contemplating taking a full-time psych degree course at SIM with the degree being awarded by the uni @ buffalo. i went online and wiki-ed it, and looked at rankings but still not many people have heard of it. does anyone know about this uni's reputation and where to check whether civil service or anything accepts this particular degree?
i did try googling that, but i just couldn't find an exact list.

from what i know from my lecturer
she was a RMIT as well as NUS Biz lecturer
its quite a good school, and in SIM, they allow the local lecturers to have free hand in designing the coursework
expect more hands on less theory
but its asspensive -

oh the course fee should not be the main thing; i'm just "skeptical" of a private distance degree which appears to be a good shortcut. -

Are off-shore psychology programs accredited?
A: by the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS)
The Singapore Psychological Society does not and has not accredited any offshore psychology programs that are conducted in Singapore. Several local companies have falsely claimed that the Singapore Psychological Society accredits their offshore psychology programs. One such company was asked to publish a Notice of Apology to the SPS for falsely claiming that their offshore psychology programme is accredited by the SPS ( The Straits Times , January 31, 2001, page C25). -

* Psychology degrees completed at and conferred by American universities .
Bachelor's and Master's degrees in psychology must be completed at and conferred by American universities that are accredited by one of the following accrediting associations:
o Middle State Association of colleges and Schools
o New England Association of Schools and Colleges
o North Central Association of Schools and Colleges

o Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

You might want to contact them for a clearer picture.. such things..always fall into a grey area

but i am under the assumption that the university itself of course recognizes the distance degree, and that i might even go there to do my master's, which makes the bachelor's part irrelevant.
