I think the basis of this is the huge influence their culture has on asian culture, our culture. I'm sure everyone noticed we generally whore out on everything hollywood tosses at us, our perception of beauty is more often than not, blond hair and blue eyes. Our clothes, our behavior, the language we speak all emulate what originated from their lands.
Centuries of colonialism doesnt help either.
While that is no excuse for them to assume superiority,west europe and america are currently the economic and military superpowers which conveniently provides the lesser of their citizens with a facade of 'racial superiority' while we are all in fact, humans.
