try searching for bulldog ants, its up there in a class of ferocity ants species,.. and no they dun look like bulldogs but they are 100x times more aggressive than a bulldog.. xD
they dun hunt in colonies like ants usually do.. instead they hunt alone..

Ants evolved from wasp-like insects. Along the way, they lost their wings and started living in colonies.
The bulldog ants are not as advanced as the other ants, hence their colony behavior is not so obvious. -

there was a time when i stepped on puddle of water after a storm (in sg).
turned out there was a colony of common fireants floating in there.
they clung to my foot (was wearing sandals) and stung away like nobody's business.
i'd say there were about 100 of them fuckers.
the sting didn't kill me, but minutes later my face swelled up, my windpipes tightened and i was struggling to breathe. i struggled home, lied down and prepared to die. somehow i calmed down and could get sips of air to my lungs and went to sleep or passed out couldn't be sure. went to the doctor the next morning who told me i should buy 4D for remaining alive. -
you were bloody lucky that you didn't lapse into shock and die..
