This isn't my 1st time reporting despicable monks using religious beliefs to con/scam local fools. I who is free thinker really against such lowly tactics.
Today was a failed once as when I asked the monk which temple he is from, he looked at me in blankly and walked away in a fast pace while I dial 999. Guess this time was bad as my food and drinks just came so no choice lor he slipped off.
I tried to eat as fast as I can then I went to find again but I think he’s gone. OMG my 1st failed attempt out of 2 successful police report.
I wish to encourage all forum readers do not hesitate to call 999 to report such scum wearing robes that asks for alms. Local Buddhist association confirmed that monks are only allowed to ask for food but not any monetary donations.
Secondly inculcate your elders that such monks exist to cheat them.
From what I read last time from Straits Times, these Bogus Monks are operated by locals and they collected a certain % of donations collected by these scamming monks. So By donating to such monks, you are funding the illegal organization in Singapore as well as not getting karma for the $$ you donated.
report here got use meh.
i feel that buy reporting their usual scamming location, readers who live around the vicinity can help out too.
u got call wrong number ?? 999 is for emergency only lei ![]()
do monks carry handphone? are they fake monk then?
unless the monk show me some shaolin moves than i give him money.

Yeah. Anyway, it is hard to differentiate a real or bogus monk. Bottomline, Shoo and don't give at all. They will not starve to death. They can eat from the rubbish chute and leftover food in Hawker centres for all i care.
