Kang Bu Pow: Couple.
erm what else ah? can't recall liao.....
I guess mine was a Tai Ban Kang: A very large male.(officer class)
yeah there are different types of them, even the coloured patterns on their body...there are those bright "glowing" patch on their body ( usually the Tai ban Kang)
Btw i havent heard of the couple...Can elaborate more?
actually the Tai Ban kang can be sold for a good money to other kids in your class that time...
they happen to be good if not the best fighters...but some chilli padi are alos brave enough to take on Tai Ban Kang
i had seen the gostan pow ....but chili padi impresses me...Brave men
I had seen one chilli padi taking on my huge Tai Ban Kang to the very end and he died honorably.. jesus that guy was a war hero...he deserves the purple heart, congressional medal of honor
last time my cousin called them:
Tai ban kang - General
Chilli Padi - Sergeant
Gostan Pow - Private
some prefer to cal them
Tai ban Kang - Commando
Chilli Padi and others - Elite Infantry men
when my tai ban kang died, he took on another of his own kind, a large beastly fighter, though we stopped the fight after a while, he suffered i think serious injuries and the next morning he left for heaven i have promoted him to Brigadier General for his courage and bravery.
Normally I would keep in match boxes, old casstle tape & those sour plum container.
Feeding wise would be ants, flying ants, mosquito and all sorts of small insects.
There are many types of colour ranging from light blue, white, silver, gold & black
I still miss one of mine which was eaten by ants...I train it from blue until it completely change to pure black. And it was always fierce in battle, when they start to stare at each another. My blackie would jump from long distant and bit off the opponent arms..
Still miss the old days...
wait a second, though i know much abt them, i still cannot recall the totally black one..what class is this variety?...i vaguely seeing one black one...
u mentioned eaten by ants?...what ants ..fire ants? i know some are afraid of those fire ants that have a burning bite
Chilli padi ( sergeant class) is red?
the jumping kind is fast and swift...though tai ban kang is slow in movement..but has a beastly presence...

That's why I said it took me 2 to 3 months from light blue to change completely to black in colour. Pure black no any other colour at all, I guess because I put inside matchbox and there was no sunlight so it turn into a blackie.
This blackie was really fierce always bite off opponent arms so they will not fight since already lost an arm.

hm.interesting....sounds like yours could be Chilli Padi...cos they are known to be fast and swift..
Yup eaten by ants cos when the fight is over, I put back into the matchbox & I left it below my house. Than the next day when I going to collect it, I open it up & there was full of ants!!! I immediately threw it away. I forgotten what type of ants is it already..
this black one seems particularly intelligent...it knows the attacking strategy...Assassin class
usually Tai ban Kang will wait for the other to make a move and open his arms wide to scare the other...But stands steadfast with little movement...
Oh ya if I still remember, we name it in hokkien example king ku pao, chi kop pao etc etc..LOL

i think he either died from injuries and his corpse became food for ants or got swarmed by hoards of ants ( have to see what type of ants first)...Ants in large numbers, esecially those fire or red ants are a dangerous foe to even the Tai ban Kang...Numbers make up for their weak standalone strength
i dont think the normal fast moving black ants (sugar ants) are capable of bringing fighter spiders down
why did u leave it under the house?..i mean under the house means u left it unattended?
That time still a kid ma, mummy boy must go home after the timing is up than left it below my house. When I remember that time is gone case lo.. Sad la maybe it's fate lo.. I still remember it defeat total of 30 plus other spider & eaten opponent spider maybe 10 to 20 nos..heehee. A lot of my friends always challenge me cos mine is like undefeatable..
You can read from here, it said the darkest male are more aggressive.

is it a large fighter( Tai Ban kang). Usually TBK have a glowing green or blue on their body

Yup you right normally larger spider is either green or blue, but mine is smaller by 1 or 2cm but the arms are long. I don't think mine is TBK, cos my blackie can defeat a TBK within secs..
Look at this fighting spider damn gross...

Thiania bhamoensis refers to the the overall species ( TBK, Chilli Padi, Couple ect)...Not the the black one
But black one could be maybe an Asassin or Alien ( subspecies) Assasins are usually referred to other figting spiders who are very similar to the Thiania bhamoensis. They are called Assasins cos they do not normally appear on the fighting scene and have strategies and styles of fighting not in line with the Thiania bhamoensis but one of a targetted move that are reminiscent of Assassins or something not from the species at all.. .. i vaguely remember seeing one when hunting in the bushes and i have heard of this
This ones are classified under Mercenary

The 1st time I caught Thiania bhamoensis was a little greenish & blue in colour & when times goes by it turn to black. By the time it turns to black it is a aggressive fighter. Not those subspecies mention by you.
I encountered Assasins before. I think they reason why win is because their bite may have venom...Some call them Alien. they are the same thing...Some clever kids may use it to cheat battles...
U have to note that any fighting spider than u catch could not be Thiania bhamoensis
Assasins or Aliens could be Thiania bhamoensis natural enemies
Just like the Hornet and Bees
