Actually saw one korean film quite touching the young wife got dementia and her architect husband found her in the mental home because her family do not want her situation deteriorate..in the end the husband love her too much to put her there for the rest of her life..she's just in her twenties -

It's fucking painful to watch, for the last 5 years of her life my nanna didn't have a clue who anyone was or about anything really was nothing but a body waiting to die... but if it happened to my gf i couldn't leave her although i guess the situations slightly different being engaged rather than just gf/bf, i promised i'd always take care of her and regardless of that I would. I guess it just really depends who's more important to you - her (or him) or yourself. Edit: don't take that the wrong way, I don't intend it to read like looking down on someone who would leave because the real pain of it isn't really that she doesn't remember you so much it's watching someone you love fade away.
