They celebrate theirs on March 1st during non-leap years. And coincidentally, I'm having hell trying to calculate the number of years and days between two dates for a project since last night because of this leap thing. ![]()

SINGAPORE: It appeared that more people tied the knot on 29 February.
At the Registry of Marriages, some 71 marriages were registered, compared to the daily average of 60.
In the previous leap year which was in 2004, just 15 couples registered on 29 February and this has increased by almost five times in 2008.
For bride and bridegroom, Jean Lee and Andy Chee, their wedding on 29 February comes after five months of planning.
Jean said that this day is in fact not an auspicious day on the Chinese calendar but it was unique enough for her, to convince Andy to get married.
Andy said: "I thought she was joking, but apparently she was not, because most people will go for double dates like 070707 or even 080808 or even the first day that we met. But I think February 29 is quite a special day."
"Maybe for the next few years it might be a dinner, just a dinner for the both of us. But when it comes to our first’ anniversary four years later, it will be a much bigger one," said Jean. —CNA/vm

SINGAPORE: Love’s in the air — 165 metres high in fact — for couples speed dating on the Singapore Flyer.
They were taking part in MediaCorp Radio’s "Speed Dating in a Leap Year" event on Friday, 29 February.
Two couples walked away with the "Perfect Couple" title when their choices for another date matched.
Bilal and Safura Khan are one of the pair. "He’s funny, that’s why," said Safura Khan. "When I saw her, I was thinking, ’so good’, ’alright’. I tried my best to impress her, and I think I did," said Bilal.
The other "perfect couple" are Er Peishan and Ang Kachun. "It was a very comfortable chat with him," said Peishan. "It’s very comfortable talking to her....," said Kachun.
Love in the leap year also got onto reel life, with MediaCorp Raintree Pictures
premiering its first English romantic film, "The Leap Years", to several sold—out sessions in cinemas in Singapore.
The good response from Singaporeans gives Raintree Pictures confidence in the overseas market.
"In Hong Kong, this coming March, there’s going to be a film market, and that’s where we are going to sell it to the rest of the world," said Daniel Yun, managing director of Raintree Pictures.
Raintree Pictures projects the film will rake in box office takings of up to $2 million in Singapore. — CNA/ir
