Hi, Anyone study at kaplan? Are their Certificate recognize? :)
Anyone can help?
People normally associate Kaplan with ACCA and CFA courses, but I think your referring to the private dips and degrees that Kaplan provides, so I think that their degrees and diplomas are as recognized as any other private institution in Singapore. i.e. MDIS, PSB, SIM etc.
hi, thanks Paradise Lost for ur reply, I thinking of taking diploma in logistics Management from Kaplan. Any others private school to study logistics management?
No problem. Im not too sure which private schools offer a dip in logistic management.
I would suggest that you approach the main private schools such as SIM, MDIS, PBS etc and collect the relevant information pertaining to your intended course. Aggregate the information and analyze whether the modules taught in the respective schools are sufficient or appropriate for the industry. And finally, post in forums or ask around regarding the culture/system/difficulty/environment from like-minded peers that are already in or have graduated from the course.
ok thanks alot bro :)
Don't be too happy to say what is recognised before checking out. I understand there are lots of courses offered in SG by various private institutions may not be recognised by the SG Gov... private sector maybe. all depends on what they are looking at. However, for Gov job if you are seeking employment, even a PSB offered courses does not garrante you any thing.
So please do your sum before committing. This is especially so when taking undergraduate courses. I have colleagues whose certificate was not recognised for various reasons, but another from an appropriate department, the boss say yes.. and he got a raised and adjustment in salary.
2 colleagues with Diplomas from PSB, not recognised by Gov sector, reason, diploma course too short, 2 yrs as compared to normal from Polytechnic. Another freind, degree from UCL in some business course, upon completion, MOE rejected her appeal for higher pay as relief teaching staff, reason? not relevant, don't recognised.
This is a demand supply thing, Gov may approved various institutions to offer such course, but may not recognised as this issue had already been answered by MOE and debated in ST forum some years ago. Unless you really know what you want to do and achieved, else don't waste $$$. Of course, its always a good thing to upgrad yourself ... enjoy your course.
shatec 3yrs diploma recog?
kaplan university in usa has a good reputation...
Yup, I agree with bbmars, its a demand-supply thing. If theres a big demand for labour (or an employees market), firms won't tend to discriminate against the various degrees/diplomas according to public first then private.
Whatever, maybe, not harm checking.... Anyway, doesn't mean recognised institutions offer course, well known, etc... should be no problem. You are dead wrong with that statement. Even MIT has courses that is not recoognised by SG Gov. Such is life, there are pros and cons.
One thing for sure, whatever on the recongised list may not be up to date...somtehing can't be understoShaod at all why they aren't.. go ask MOE.... I still recalled, when I applied for Degree course in Uk, surprisingly, the latest list I got included courses that no longer offered by certain U, not recently but already for some years.
unless your future employer willing to take you on, if not... that's always the stinking part. Else in the private sector, I don't any any of this problem really depends on yourself.
OF course, courses offered by SG institution, no problem... Shatec is never an issue... they used to be the only suich school in SGloing ago, but no longer as Even ITE and Polys not offereing some of the courses they offer
heard frm some of my shatec 3yr diploma friends that they served 2.5yrs NS instead of 2yrs before the new NS directive.
