Aside from normal bonus, my company also gives out special bonus. So called 'performance based bonus'.
So my big boss (General Manager) rang me up last Sat, wanted to see me. Me, being a lowly employee who has virtually no dealing with General Managers, went 'Oh shit whatdididowhatdididowhatdidido?'
So he gave me an envelope, told me what it is and how it works. So I'm getting.....some extra money. But they will only give me 1/3 of it end of April. And another 1/3 of it every subsequent year.
Here's the strange thing. I didn't do anything special. As a matter of fact, I probably did less work last year.
Chances are, they're giving it to me because I complained about being unhappy/bored with my work and is looking for a transfer.
If that's the case.....well, it's further proof that this world is a douchebag. So you've got to be an asshole. Then the world will wipe your ass for you.

Don't be too happy trying to be a douchebag yet.
That so call "extra" money is a way companies keep their employees lock in.
If you quit before you get the other 2/3 , will the company still give it to you or will they forfeit it ? Figure this out. If they don't, your company pretty much have you by your balls for the next 2-3 years.
Don't be too happy your company is so keen on keeping you, chances are, your job is so sucky nobody else wanna fill it.

Actually hor, the GM is very angry and very reluctant to give you, but because of shortage in labour, no choice, once they got the people they need, u r history with 1/3 of you life left.

Well, honestly, I don't really have much to worry. When I said I wanted to transfer? I've actually alraedy found another department to take me in. If they ever decide to fire me (not the culture of this company to fire people, they ask you to leave yourself), HR will (hopefully) step in and put me in the other department.
Without a doubt, other people can do my work. I'm just a software engineer. It's just that the software we are using is quite niche. Other people can learn it, but I'm the most experienced in the company. And quite possible in Singapore (chances are, there are less than a dozen peolpe in S'pore that knows about this software. This is a BAD thing, not a good thing). Also, department is shorthanded.
Anyway, I've gotten my normal bonus already. I think I'll spend a portion of this special bonus in the coming IT Show. Need a new monitor, a new VGA card, router, maybe KB + M, a stick of ram......possibly a new PC.
