DST is not exactly a big thing.
In countries further away from the equator, the timing for dawn differs significantly during different parts of the year. Even for us in Singapore, if you're really observent, this is readily apparent, if only on a much smaller magnitude.
Anyway, hours in daylight are really important for some trades. Even then, no one really wants to go home well after sunset. So we have the problem of sometimes needing to go to work at 6am, and on other days, 8am or so.
Even then, there's the problem of coordination. Imagine your annoyance on reaching the office at 6am, only to realise your suppliers are still starting work at 8am. Now you just wasted 2 hours of daylight for nothing.
Enter DST to save the day. By shifting the clock forwards and backwards across the area affected, the community can now work together effeciently despite the shift in daylight hours.
We don't have DST because we don't need it.
