well guess it doesn't apply to girls only. i've seen guys working their ass off just to get some branded stuffs too.
some people go for brand not necessarily to flaunt. maybe its because of its durability they trust? and for people who save up so hard just to get a LV or Gucci bag to make people think that they're rich are simply just thickskin.
you get LV wallet? better make sure there's a few sheets of $50 notes or full of credit cards. unless you telling me its a gift from someone or smth.

An LV bag will give a person first impression that "maybe, just maybe" this person is loaded.
After that, its really about knowing the person.
According to psychologist (a study done in the mid 90s during the good times before 97 financial crisis), people buy branded stuff to give themselves a fake sense of confidence, something so that others will look up upon them that otherwise ppl will not look up to. So it's really about a status symbol.
I have know ppl with LV bags and stuff, but with an empty brain. So is that person loaded intellectually?
My personal friend's family, genuinely loaded, stays in a $15m bungalow, family all holding decent jobs.
His dad's watch is a $200-300 Seiko, his handphone is a simple nokia 6000-series, bag is a delsey.
Mom's watch is also a Seiko, handphone is a simple samsung, her handbag is something she bought during a shopping trip in china. no brand no flashiness.
By one look, you can't tell they are loaded, but by their words, thoughts, and actions. You can FEEL they ain't a simple nobody.

my opinion about high society is that its overrated.....
becoz most people in society aren't 'high' how could 'high' society even call themselves a society......wots so social about that?

i know a fella who sold every damn thing he had just to buy an ipod touch and iphone to look rich. then sold them both to buy PS3 for the same reason.

All that said, how many of you here would rather be a regular peasant, probably not being able to get your CPF money, paying off debts even on your deathbed OR would you rather be loaded, meet the rich and famous, spend your time counting notes and living the high life in the high class caste?
now really.. be honest, all these talk and bashing, please people, stop being jealous. it's anyone's choice to choose how they spend their money, its not right to simply criticise them as "shallow" "show-off"

I had no comments about people who can afford to buy branded bags, but those people who can't even afford are buying fake LV bags. What are they trying to prove? That they like the designs so much? Poof. They go for brands too, just that they don't have the capital to buy only.
And those who need to resort to borrowing money from friends or family just to buy one branded bag are very pathetic. Despise them.

Branded bags are not a necessity in the first place.
