oh really never bite or scratch ? Try poke their stomach violently lol. joking
you can't compartmentalise things to your conveniences or inconveniences simply by killing them off.
the reality is human beings SHARE the world with other animals
and if fellow human beings are not responsible in the way they behave
the animals should not be the ones who get punished
So what.. now cats shit everywhere, let's kill them off! Easy solution! Or shove them over to malaysia! Or keep them in your houses, you bleeding hearts!
next, birds shit everywhere, let's kill them off!!
what next? Oh how about those fishes in our reservoirs! They shit damn a lot too! into our drinking water no less! Let's kill them too!
Why not just make things easy and just set off the nuclear bomb and kill off all life on earth, cos if you want to compare the type of damage cats do to the environment, and the type of damage Human beings do the the environment - i definitely know who should die first.
in short, the world is not your personal underwear drawer.
btw is it difficult for cats to live with dogs? need 2 check 1st.

erm yea, if both enemy cannot get along..
Dont get tricked by some videos cuz some of the cats already lived together with the doggie since they were small.. so theres mutual feeling..
TS got doggie also, i also wanted to know how the cat can live with doggie.
no ... I suppose we shouldn't cull them ..... nevermind SARS, bird flu, etc ....
Shit.. Someone left an empty coke can on my bike this morning.. Maybe I should inform the authorities to kill all people who drink coke, assuming the logic of killing cats cos of scratch marks is correct?
Well therefore
dun blame on global issue
when things happen
YOu reap what you sow
Thats simple....

Actually, we should just make all the cat lovers adopt the stray cats! Tadah! Problem solved. You dont really see ppl feeding birds or monkeys rite?

Cat don't spread SARS or bird flu. And chances of animal passing disease to human is lower than human to human. So according to your logic, it make more sense to cull human.

well YES! lots of people drive to macritchie and I see people stopping inf ront of the big sign that says PLS DONT FEED THE MONKEYS and they feed them!
AND litter bugs feed birds!!
So can we kill off the litter bugs too?

and human beings spread aids.
disease is a part of life - if there is substantial evidence that they are really causing harm - fine. It isn't a good thing to do, but its for survival.
If anything, we should work on medicine to prevent the disease or cure it.And culling should be kept to a minimum.
Killing living things cos they poo on your doorstep - is not doing something for your survival.
But don't worry - you won't be lonely. Lots of people are like this. People kill off animals because they are 'inconveniently' living on our farmlands, and places that we settle. And when we destroy the places they used to live in, and they don't have places to live anymore, they start living on OUR land - even more reason to kill them off!
In fact when you are 50, you should be very happy that there might be much less animals to contend with! Human supremacy! Aren't you happy?

only if you put animals on an equal footing as human beings ... i'm sorry, animals to me are either food or pets, not equals .... between the lives of animals and the lives of human beings, it's no contest to me ..
I wonder if many of the animals lovers here are vegans ? ... or do they practise "selective love" when it comes to animals too ? ....

oh i dunno ... it's a crime to feed the monkeys ... and infact, some chap just got fined ..... so how come people are allowed to feed stray cats with impunity ? .....

you know.. i don't mind making it a law to stop feeding cats.
I am perfectly fine with that because what the law targets would be HUMAN BEINGS who are irresponsible.
But if monkeys got to be culled because the human beings who feed them train them to be 'aggressive' and see human beings are 'food bearers' because they feed them - who's paying the price.
that's my point.

then i think you are being very myopic. You do realise that even the change in species populations will affect the entire earth - making changes in temperature, extinction of entire species. Human beings are at the top of the food chain - but if we do NOT wield our responsibility carefully, then you ARE looking at the extinction of the human race.
The reality is there is a balance for everything. Animals eat other animals - that is a fact of life. But no other animal have the ability to kill off another animal in wholesale numbers that human beings can.
Extinction don't come overnight. It is a slow and steady slippery slope that gathers up speed and then becomes too difficult to stop. I'm not a bleeding heart about cats in particular - though I own one - BUT I do not think that any human being should consider culling of any animal as an easy and convenient solution to any problem.

oh, I'm not sure if monkeys are going to be culled, there are no monkeys being a pest in the heartlands after all .... but I did see an MGS girl being haressed and tormented by monkeys at the bus stop opposite bukit timah plaza recently, the monkeys are getting more and more brazen ....
but yeah ... perhaps it's high time for a law to ban the feeding of stray cats outright ....

fine ... I read my leakeys too .... but there's only one thing about this line of thought ... we are talking about unwanted stray cats in the city here, not some rare and endangered sumantran fishing cat in the jungle .....

the thing is ... who makes the decision in future? the kids who live in the forest - or the kids who live in the cities?
And if you teach them the message that hey culling is a cool and easy solution! - then the future is quite sealed isn't it?
Kindness begins at home.

Animal shelter: http://www.noahsarklodge.com/
Noah's Ark Lodge is a privately run shelter for homeless animals in Singapore, presently home to 250 dogs, 200 cats, a camel, a pony, and numerous other rabbits, ducks, geese, chickens and other furry creatures. Its residents include such exotic animals as pair of lorises, a cassowary, a python, a civet cat and a ferret.
The shelter was founded six years ago when Raymund Wee, a dog groomer, discovered that a plot of land designated by the Singapore government as a training and breeding ground for dogs, was available for sub-lease. Wee sold his shophouse and opened Noah's Ark Lodge. Since then, he has then put in $1.5 million to develop a 'mudhole' into a lushly foliaged sanctuary for cats, dogs and other animals.
Noah's Ark Lodge is presently the only privately-funded shelter in Singapore for animals that would otherwise be homeless or destroyed. Raymund continues to operate his grooming business for needed funds, and is aided by supporters and volunteers, in caring for the animals.
